Founded in 2006, Caring Transitions is the nation's largest and most trusted provider that offers relocation, downsizing/decluttering, and estate-sale services, often for older adults transitioning to assisted living, downsizing, or managing an estate. We are a unique concept in the growing senior space because we are non-medical, non-in home healthcare. Unlike a standard mover or an estate-sale company alone, Caring Transitions positions itself as a total-solution transition company. We help clients pack, relocate belongings, manage estate sales (including via our proprietary online auction platform, CTBIDS), declutter, and clean out homes. Our brand emphasizes compassion and sensitivity: handling not just logistics, but the emotional and practical needs of seniors and their families during major life transitions. Our franchise owners primarily serve seniors who are downsizing into assisted living or moving into a smaller home. We begin by walking through the residence to identify the items the senior wishes to take to their new space. Those belongings are carefully packed, transported, and unpacked, and we set up the new living environment to feel familiar and comforting, almost like a smaller version of their own home. For the move, Caring Transitions will pack the items up. However, for the physical move, owners have the option of investing in a moving van & moving team OR they can work with a subcontractor for the physical move of the boxes and furniture. We'll provide them with a list of subcontractors. Once the move is complete, we return to the original house to manage what remains. Depending on the items, we conduct an in-home estate sale or list them through our online auction platform, CTBids. After the sale, we handle the full downsizing and decluttering process by donating items of value and disposing of anything no longer usable. We finish by leaving the property in a clean, broom-swept condition so a real estate agent can stage it and prepare the home for market.
The franchisee or Operations Manager manages the project from start to finish, delegating tasks to employees and coordinating with moving subcontractors. How much do they charge? We have a proprietary software that will help them determine how much to charge so they can not only cover payroll and supplies, but also make a profit.
